Air Street joins with Regent Street through a cool arch and then continues on the other side. In this painting I depict a rainy evening towards Christmas with people wondering around under umbrellas. The rain and bright streetlights are obscuring the view of the arches. The central characters are a couple under the main street light on the entre right. Since it’s cut off to through traffic, it’s a calm area to meander.
It’s a slightly more peaceful spot so close to Piccadilly circus and regent street an I like it if I’m meeting friends at the Glassblowers pub or going to get some sun on Golden Square. I don’t go to Carnaby St much but in case you’re wondering, it’s a good shortcut.
This painting is quite big and I’m not sure it’s scaled well to screen size. A lot of detail has disappeared into the darkness.
