Time Lapse Painting Demonstrations

London Liverpool Street; Is It Me?

'Is It Me?' is about having confidence in your decisions. It doesn't have anything to do with being right or wrong necessarily; rather it's about those moments when you feel everyone else is on the wrong track. Read more about my thoughts here. I hope you enjoy the video.

Citta dela Pieve, Stefanini's Cafe

I really enjoyed painting this scene from a village in Italy near where my mother lives. I wanted to capture a bit of that Italian afternoon promenade, which as it happens in this case is outside one of my favourite ice cream cafes. I decided to go with this very loose style as it felt right for the feelings I have when I am there. It's simple and I think very effective. Enjoy the video. The original has sold but you can still by a full sized limited edition print here. I hope you enjoy the video.

Covent Garden - Farmers Market

Covent Garden, London. My widest painting at 210cm and a challenge. I wanted to include 2 vanishing points which you only really see if you turn your head 90 degrees. So how to do this without it looking like a fish eye lense shot. One way or other, I like it and so did a couple at my recent exhibition who bought it. You can still by a full sized print here. I hope you enjoy the video.

Mgarr Harbour, Malta

This was a commission from a collector of my work in Malta. It was a challenging painting as it lacked the usual foreground objects I include to help with depth. I like the result. Slightly more figurative than normal but then I wanted the church on the mountain top to be recognisable as a church. This to some extent defined tge rest of the painting. Prints are available here.

London Paddington Train Station

London Paddington Station in its creation. I enjoyed this painting and wanted to build on the shiny floor style that was evident in the Royal Opera House painting (video below). I spent about 4 hours at the station and there were a few moments when the central platform was empty. The couple kissing goodbye and the guard hurrying them along are from my imagination.

The London Royal Opera House

Below is a time lapse painting I recently finished of the Royal Opera House in London. The painting took over a week to complete although in general I kept the camera still. This is my first night time painting and was tricky because I viewed the painting during the day, plus it wasn't raining. I like the result. Although it's a cold, wet winters night, the painting has a cosy warmth.

Restaurant on the Stairs of the Acropolis

This turned out to be a much more difficult painting to finish than I expected, mainly because it was tricky getting the left hand wall to balance. The painting is a little unbalanced but I like the video. I hope you enjoy too.
